Membership

The doors of our churches are always open to those who wish to become members of the church.  We would welcome you as you decide to worship and serve the Lord with us.  Here are the ways that we receive new members into our church family.

By Profession of Faith and Baptism:

A person who begins the Christian Life does so through a Profession of Faith in Christ and Baptism, which is a means of receiving God's grace through Jesus Christ.  Baptism is the sacrament of initiation and incorporation into the body of Christ.  After baptism, the church provides nurture and instruction as you seek to grow in God's grace and love.  If you are ready to receive God's gift of Baptism, please visit with the minister.  The pastor will be happy to talk with you about this important step in your spiritual life.

By Transfer from another United Methodist Church:

Your membership belongs where you live and attend services.  We are able to handle all the paperwork regarding your transfer of membership through our church office.  Please come down to the front of the Sanctuary at the beginning of the hymn of commitment.  We will joyfully welcome you and receive you into our faith community here.

You will be received into the local congregation as you respond to the following question by saying, "I will."

As a member of this congregation, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts,  your service and your faithful witness?

By Transfer from another Christian Denomination:

We are able to recognize your previous baptism and transfer your church membership from your denomination.  Since we honor your baptism, you do not need to be re-baptized.  Please come to the front of the Sanctuary during the hymn of commitment.  We will be happy to receive you as a United Methodist and a member of our fellowship.

You will be received into The United Methodist Church after responding to the following question by saying, "I will."

As a member of Christ's universal church, will you be loyal to The United Methodist Church, and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries?

You will then be received into the local congregation as you respond to the following question by saying, "I will."

As a member of this congregation, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your faithful witness?
